I periodically teach field courses with various universities and organizations, usually in the tropics. Field elements of courses I took as an undergrad and grad student were transformative to my learning and career path, and I have found these teaching experiences to be some of the most rewarding, because I can see how experiential learning influences student views of biology, science, and nature. Additionally, these courses often allow me to augment my research, and sometimes lead to publications co-authored with students.
